Palmer
The Palmer mango, selected in Miami, Florida, USA, and described in 1949, was introduced in Brazil in the 1960s. This variety adapted exceptionally well to the Brazilian climate, becoming, alongside Tommy Atkins, one of the dominant in the country.
This mango is large and oval, characterized by its thin skin, which displays a purple color when it is not yet fully ripe, turning red as it ripens. Its flesh is bright orange, firm, juicy and offers a sweet, tropical flavor, reminiscent of a combination of pineapple, peach and citrus fruits, measuring 21.6º Brix. This variety is notable for having little to no fiber. Furthermore, Palmer has a good shelf life and regular productions.
Because they are known for their soft, juicy flesh with a melty, smooth texture similar to butter, they have become a popular choice among mango lovers.
