Tommy Atkins

The Tommy Atkins mango, selected in Florida, USA, in the 40s and introduced in Brazil in the 60s, is a variety that stands out for its bright red and intense purple skin, adorned with green and yellow reflections, and a small tip and pointed at the bottom. The flesh of this mango is a vibrant yellow-orange and houses a small, flat seed. The texture is firm, juicy and slightly fibrous, while its aroma is subtle, evoking apricot and peach. In terms of flavor, Tommy Atkins offers a smooth and sweet taste experience, with a slightly acidic touch, combining notes of tropical and citrus fruits.

This variety is the most cultivated in Brazil and represents the main mango export worldwide. In Brazil, Tommy Atkins accounts for 90% of mango exports, standing out for its ease of floral induction in hot seasons, high productivity and good shelf life. These characteristics make Tommy Atkins an excellent choice for both the domestic and foreign markets.
