Keitt

The Keitt mango was initially planted in 1939 in Homestead, Florida, USA, and arrived in Brazil in the 1960s. This variety stands out for its large size, with the fruit weighing around 610 grams, presenting an oval shape and a slightly oblique. However, there is a clone known as Keitt Pequena, which has a more common size, weighing around 450 grams.

This variety is recognized for its excellent flavor, measuring 19º Brix, and has fiber only around the seed. The pulp/fruit ratio is approximately 70%, contributing to a good shelf life. Keitt has smooth, bright green skin with a hint of red, turning yellowish green when ripe. Its sweet, juicy, fiber-free pulp offers a rich tropical flavor, making it ideal for desserts and smoothies.

Keitt mangoes ripen slowly, maintaining firmness, which makes them easier to handle and transport. Famous for their large size, delicious flavor and extended ripening period, Keitt mangoes are highly prized.
